October 29, 2007 (FALLS CHURCH, VA) Susan B. Waters, EDM, CAE, has been named Deputy CEO of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), effective immediately.

Waters brings more than 20 years of experience in professional association management as well as a experience in the insurance industry to NAIFA. Waters was previously President of Sextant Consulting, which specializes in consulting to associations in the areas of governance, conflict management, strategic planning, leadership development and meeting facilitation. She previously served as the CEO of three associations, has been a licensed insurance broker and served as executive vice president of an insurance agency.

"Susan Waters brings a unique set of skills and experience to the new deputy CEO position and we are very excited to have her join the NAIFA team," said NAIFA President Jeffrey J. Taggart, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF. "She has a proven track record of success at associations at the local, state and national level, and has also worked in the financial services industry. We are very fortunate to have found someone who is such a great fit for us!"

John J. Healy, NAIFA CEO, said Waters' experience and background made her an easy choice for the deputy CEO position, which will play an important role in the implementation of the NAIFA21 strategic plan, the resulting transformation to the "new NAIFA" and to further improve the value proposition of membership.

"There is a magnitude of stunning synergies between Susan's prior successes and experience and the new direction and priorities that we have begun to map for NAIFA and our members' needs and wants as suggested in NAIFA21," Healy said.

Waters welcomes the opportunities that await her at NAIFA. "The NAIFA21 strategic plan puts forth an exciting vision for NAIFA and its members. I look forward to the opportunity to work toward improved value for NAIFA members across the country. I am honored that I have been chosen to help implement that vision," she said.

NAIFA members may contact Waters at swaters@naifa.org or 703-770-8102.

Waters succeeds NAIFA COO Francesca Dea, who has left NAIFA to start her own consulting firm. "We thank Francesca for her four-plus years of service to NAIFA and wish her all the best in her new creative endeavor," Healy said.
