On December 27, 2007, the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education issued five tips for selecting an insurance agent. Tip #5 is "Ask if they hold any professional memberships." The press release goes on to mention that agents who are members of professional associations, such as NAIFA, adhere to a stringent code of ethics and are committed to enhancing their skills and knowledge.
