FALLS CHURCH, VA – NAIFA will kick off its 116th annual Convention and Career Conference “Staying the Course” in Baltimore, Maryland on September 10th where some 2,600 NAIFA leaders will meet to discuss the latest legislative and regulatory issues as well as industry trends and insurance product development. The Convention and Career Conference will feature educational workshops and the NAIFA Expo, one of the largest exhibits of financial services and products in the nation.
Convention highlights focusing on Government Relations include:
- The Town Hall Meeting and Legislative Forum featuring former Congressman and television political analyst John Kasich (R-OH) who will provide insight into the role of NAIFA members in the legislative and regulatory process. Also, NAIFA volunteer leaders and professional staff lobbyists will examine legislative and regulatory challenges;
- Highlighting Congressional and White House recognition of September as Life Insurance Awareness Month, Newsweek and Life magazines will team up at the 10th Annual real LIFEstories Gala Award Banquet to share the best stories that illustrate the benefits of life, health, disability income and long-term care insurance and the role of the insurance professional;
- The All Hands! Day on the Hill lobbying effort will see the largest group of NAIFA members ever travel to Washington, DC for meetings with their representatives and senators;
- Guest speaker Michael Dunn, well known Washington insider and public affairs consultant, will speak to NAIFA members about the power of groups in affecting the outcome of government decisions.
NAIFA’s tradition of humorous and inspirational speakers will feature Dr. Bertice Berry, sociologist, educator, lecturer, comedienne, television host and author, who tackles difficult subjects such as sexism and racism; and Steve Bridges, master impressionist, who developed an amazingly accurate characterization of George W. Bush that has been featured on a variety of national stages including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Early Show" and "Good Morning America."
